Why Cheney?
Cheney Pulp and Paper has been providing
specialty pulps to the paper industry for over 75 years. That kind of
historical experience is unique in this business.
But we’ve also kept up to date by continually upgrading our equipment
– so today, we’re now a leader in modern pulp making processes. We
produce a variety of different kinds of pulp, mostly made with cotton,
plus other natural fibers such as manila, tobacco stalks, kenaf, abaca,
and more.
Excellent Customer Service

Call Us Direct: We’re
a small organization, so there aren’t a lot of layers that you have to
go through to speak to someone who can help you in very specific ways. For
example, if you want to speak to our mill engineer, you can call him
direct. The same is true of just about anyone in our organization you
might want to talk to … just ask for the person who can help you.
Custom Designed Pulps: Also, if you
have a request for a particular fiber, or an idea for a fiber you’d like
to try, we’re going to work with you to get the result you want. If you
come to us and request certain brightness … a specific fiber length …
or a description of what you’re trying to make (texture, heft, color,
etc.) … We’re happy to make recommendations. We’ll suggest the best
raw materials and other components to create the kind of pulp you need –
and will even produce a small experimental batch, when needed, to make
sure it’s exactly right.
Small Minimum Orders & Fast Delivery: As
for minimum order sizes and delivery speed … a lot of other pulp
manufacturers require a minimum order of 100 tons, and possibly a month or
more advance notice. Well, our minimum commercial order is only 10,000
pounds. Of course, we can also fill a multi-truck-load batch – usually
in as little as 2 or 3 weeks, even during our busiest seasons. For
existing customers, we can typically fill re-orders within a week.
Extra Clean & Uniform Pulp

Our pulps are extremely clean, and of a highly consistent quality.
At Cheney, we have developed a one-of-a-kind cleaning process where we double- and triple- clean the fibers. (See details in the
Making Paper & Pulp section of this website.) Most other rag pulp manufacturers clean the stock only once – but we clean it 3 times before finishing the pulp.
In addition, we produce sheeted and dried pulp – which is the best form for you, the customer, to warehouse and inventory your pulp. Our recent equipment upgrades have also increased the quality and uniformity of our pulps, enabling us to provide some of the highest quality pulp available.
